And the Nay sayers say...

Man, this makes me boil! Not only are we addicted to Oil we have people saying that we will be hooked for life... Or until a cheaper more efficient and economical way is found... Makes me sick. Hello, there are "alternatives" just not fuel alternatives.

At a glance it seems that the person points out the obvious issues that we Americans face and are guilty of but what he won't say is equally obvious that we should cut back. But this isn't mentioned. Or maybe again it is and I haven't read it. But from the tone the interview seemed to be heading it seemed to be a pessimistic bandwagon type of interview criticizing what we all know while offering little in regards to alternatives (options rather than fuels) or a possible way out of the quagmire.

Feel free to read the article. I'm too lazy to finish it.

Well, I am still at a zero gain on cutting back on my oil consumption but every once and awhile I'll not down shift in anger, saving some ounces of gas. Went on a bike ride last Friday and couldn't help but think how long it was taking to ride ten miles. Ughh, I got a long way to go to get back on the bike. But it felt good.

A New Day. A new blog

I'm tired of the rising gas prices and about getting stupid emails telling me to not fill up gas until Tuesday. Show those gas companies we mean business by filling up on Saturday instead! YEAH, we will show them!

I'm tired of the government telling us to conserve more and drive less. Easy for them to say as they have their government vehicles filled up for them by their drivers.

All these higher gas prices trickle down and when will it stop? It's more addictive than drugs I say. Despite me railing against the machines I love to drive my car. What do we do? What support systems are out their to get us off this addiction? Nothing. I think if the government is going to sit on it's bloated fat arse and do nothing then lets rise up and do something about it. Just like our founding forefathers in the time of yore.

I'm no revolutionary and far from a tree hugging fruit loop but I want to be pragmatic and realistic. And who knows if enough of us Americans do this maybe we can forestall the ever increasing, year over year record profits for the oil industries.

It is my goal to ride my bike to work. I live 16 miles away. I'll need to either ride faster or plan to spend maybe 1.5 hours to get to work. Not impossible and very doable especially in the summer in Southern California. If I can do this at least half the time that's less money going to the oil companies.

I'll have to think about it... Hopefully not for too long. In the meantime I will think of ways to cut my car trips by riding the bike.

Let's band together. The design of bikes have held relatively stable for many years. You can't beat perfection. just like the wheel.
