Pathetic

No, not me! The freaking New York Transportation Union. Going on strike. Taking thier toys and not letting anyone else play.

A major inconvience for those of you that need to get into the city. I guess the last days of 2005 for me and my Ol' Lady will be of us walking. I think we'll hit the used book store that's relatively close by. I'm in the hunt for Dune 2.

Then after tomorrow I'll be homeward bound to the west coast for 2 weeks. I'm hoping that the MTA and Union will get their asses together and come up with something. I'm hoping that the MTA breaks the union. Fire them all and hire new employees. I'm hoping. It's christmas, one can hope can't I?...

On second thought that might not be a good thing as we will have a whole new crop of panhandlers for 2006. The Union employees are only qualified (barely) to do their existing job and most likely nothing else... I can't help but think of this one Union worker I saw a while back. He seem to be studying to be a conductor. I can just see it now... All jazzed up to finally be able to drive a train only to not drive because of the strike... and to get fired because the strike is illegal. To want something so bad and yet be held from it because the "union" won't let you work. Plus why balk now? It seemed to be a good job then, what changed now?

Ironies of ironies the "strikers" are striking for employees that aren't even hired. They are battling for future hire-ees. They are complaining only to complain. Let the future union workers negotiate for their contract once they become Union members... And there will be new employees count on it. The MTA is the holy grail baby!...

Plus the Union want something else that's completely assinie from the MTA... Respect... How much does that cost? And you know what they say..."respect is earned, not given".

To get the union to get back to their subpar performance all the city/MTA has to do is start offering applications. Once the Union see the lines that will wrap up and down the city and around the blocks they will realise their stupidity. I mean how hard can it be? half of the Union workers barely speak english, they always seem half asleep, they are like 70 pounds overweight, they always drive the subways like it's their first time (very rarely a smooth ride) and they are never helpful. And of course the Union is pissed off because they didn't get their "piece" of the Pie (the MTA has a billion dollar surplus). And that surplus is no surplus.

They increased the fees a while back and the increase just took them by suprise. Give them a year and they will figure how to be in debt again (by giving it to the union and giving into their demands).

Bastards! As usual it hurts the people that can least afford this crap. But who the F* cares. Dog eat dog right? I'm sick of this crap. Break the union Please!

Cripes! that's all i can say... Looks like we got to call the FoB's of golden carriage taxi for a car ride to JFK... they are suppose to be cheap but you'll be lucky if the driver has been in the US longer than 6 months. Our first experience getting to brooklyn was telling our driver how to get to brooklyn (like we knew how, HA!) and it was a good thing our landlord gave us very detailed directions...

adios, and live long and prosper.
