East coast life snap-in utility
Wouldn't it be great if things could work like a microsoft update or patch? Just snap that new accessory in and presto... You now have new features and functionalities! Only where would I get more RAM? But I guess in life we are all just early releases of a dysfunctional operating system. And like microsoft (releasing half assed products to beat the "competition") we will need countless updates and patches and various other protections so we don't crash and suffer a major dump.
Maybe I should say I wish things wold be more like firefox. but that's only a browser and not an operating system but so nice and user friendly.
Now how in the hell did I get on that tanget?... Okay back to my needing an East Coast snap in...
So after the first snow I've begun to appreciate the use of salt on the road (or the more friendly calcium bi-carbonate) in liberal quantities. I've learn to spot ice patches on the sidewalk during the middle of the day, to stay away from the yellow and brown snow along the edge of the side walk, and no matter how cold it is you have to step lightly or else you will end up on your bum. Oh, I've felt what it was like to walk on sleet (it's like walking on a greasy sidewalk with sand on the ground). A snap-in would have prepared me for these events so I wouldn't be so much like a "californian" just stepping off the Jet Blue gangway... Oh, that's who I am... Anyhow these experiences are something else.
But walking home on my first night while it was snowing was a once in a life moment. It was amazing to see the fluffy little flakes coming down.
And the Rockerfeller center was amazing. I've never seen the tree before this event and I'm glad. Because when I saw it the sight made me smile from ear to ear. It's completely ridiculous. Sorry to ruin this for those of you that haven't seen it before but it's something else. It was all lights!

A good thing too since the tree on closer inspection is asymmetric and has a bunch of twigs popping out and stuff.

It was a neat experience. People everywhere and it was busy as they have the touristas and the usualy 9-5'ers milling about and trying to get home etc..
happy holidays! I'm going home to the west coast soon and I'm excited to be back in CA. Don't really have a stable AP so this might be the last blog of 2005. Happy new year!
Regards,
vin
