no fish worth keeping

Went fishing today and it was the most I had to work since I'd been going. But we did okay considering we had no bait. Or live bait. Can you believe the bait barge ran out of bait? Sheesh. And this was at 6AM. Going to be a long day for them! Or i guess a short one if you aren't interested in working. I don't see how they'll be able to pay this months utilities if they can't get product in to sell. And today was busy!

So we went out a little bit and caught our own "live" bait. Unfortuneately the mackrels we caught were too big to use. But we were catching them left and right!

And thus with big bait we decided to go for big fish! At first I thought great! but then this would entail finding a temperature gradient, traveling along this gradien/current and looking for a floating kelp paddie that would have broken off from the main one in mexico. HooBoy! the longer I started to search for this brown patch of water the quicker I began to realize that our chances are going to be slim...

So we decided to go by san onfre for the halibut and sand bass. We only had one usable halibut bait... Okay, I live and 2 dead baits to use. the rest we'd be strip baiting or using rubber baits.

this was okay but it got kinda tedious. Would have been better for live bait but got to make do. As a consequence we only got small fishes. None worth keeping or even legal.

okay, gotta go. have a good day,
vin
